About La Voz
La Voz is the Latino Law Student Association at the William S. Boyd School of Law. Our primary focus is to empower and promote the success of law students with backgrounds that are not traditionally represented in the legal profession. We are most known for the Huellas program. Huellas, “Footprints” in Spanish, is a nationally recognized and award-winning mentorship program that pairs a local attorney, a Boyd law student, an undergraduate student, and a high school student into groups for the purpose of mentoring. Through Huellas and other programs, La Voz successfully serves as a unifying and informative organization that connects with the Latino community.
What Your Donation Will Fund
To continue the growth and success that students receive through their involvement in Huellas, we need your help. Your donations will give us the ability to provide Huellas participants with scholarships for the LSAT, textbooks for school, and bar exam preparation materials. Additionally, your donation will allow students to attend conferences that will afford them opportunities to network with the legal community. The funds raised will be used to send law students to the Hispanic National Bar Association conference in San Francisco in March 2018, and will also be used to send students to moot court competitions. As well as assist La Voz in organizing more events.
How Scholarships Will Be Awarded
In order to qualify for a scholarship, La Voz members and Huellas participants will have to submit an application. Applications will be reviewed and chosen by a committee of law students and attorney members of the Latino Bar Association. Scholarships will be awarded at the Huellas Closing Reception in April 2018.
**Contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law. All donors will receive a gift receipt from the UNLV Foundation via mail.**
