WHO WE ARE
Thank you for taking the time to look at our fundraiser page. We are the National Society for Minorities in Hospitality chapter for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This organization was founded at Cornell University in 1989 and has over 75 chapters on college campuses across the nation. This year we are proud to say that we are the largest chapter in the nation! Through our efforts of engagement and opportunity, we were awarded Best Activities and Best Newsletter last year as well as had the highest number of attendees at the Western Regional Conference here in Las Vegas.
WHAT WE DO
Our mission statement: To educate and advance the interests of our members in a way that develops their leadership skills, fosters connections with industry professionals, and makes them marketable to leading hospitality employers. Additionally, we encourage a lifelong commitment to the organization through NSMH’s extension program, the Hospitality Industry Extension Program. Both National and Regional conferences include activities such as workshops, panel discussions with industry leaders, and networking. However, unlike the regional conference, the National conference offers life changing opportunities such as interviews for management training programs and scholarships from major employers in the industry. This past year we have had three students get internships from being involved in NSMH and one student received a $5,000 scholarship.
WHY WE DO IT
There are many benefits that we offer our members in our chapter alone including networking opportunities, guest speakers, property tours in Las Vegas, and social activities. We would like for all of our members that are interested in going the National conference to be able to go this upcoming February but realize that money can often be a limiting factor for many. However, with your help we would be able to send our most dedicated members this year.
We could not do this without the love and support of our families, friends, and professional networks. Thank you so much for being a part of our success story.
This sponsorship level pays for one night at the conference hotel. A good night's rest is an important preparation tool for success!
For this donation, another student's registration fee is covered. We really appreciate your support for our organization!
Jacksonville is a long way from Las Vegas! This amazing contribution puts another student on the road (or plane) to success.
Despite our goal to develop students into tomorrow's leaders, they still have today's paychecks!! This generous donation is enough to cover one student's entire trip! We can't wait to have students detail the wonderful opportunities they unlock at the conference.
