Support Baja SAE Rebel Racing 2021

We are the Rebel Racing team at the University of Nevada: Las Vegas. Our team builds a baja off-road racing vehicle and competes in three competitions throughout the year. Schools from around the globe compete in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Competitions. We are proud to represent UNLV and Las Vegas while competing across the United States!Last season was a special one! Although we couldn’t compete in the traditional format that we are used to, as all competitions were held virtually, we reached heights that we had never hit before. For the first time in Rebel Racing history, we placed 4th Overall in both competitions we attended, 6th and 7th in the Design Finals, 8th in Costs, and top 20 in both Sales Presentations. We are sure that we would have been able to finish even higher in the standings had we been able to compete with our next generation vehicle in the traditional competition.

For this 2021 season, we have been able to continue building our new competition vehicle. This car is the culmination of all we have learned from our previous vehicles, and will continue the legacy that UNLV Rebel Racing has built since our inauguration in 2007. Building this car has taken months of hard work and dedication to reach its current stage. Already many of our students are actively developing cutting edge automotive technology, using the highest current industry standards to optimize designs, manufacturing process, and validation techniques, setting higher standards for the years to come for this team.

This season, we need your help more than ever! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of our traditional fundraising activities during 2020 and 2021 have been canceled or postponed. We have only gotten as far as we are today thanks to our amazing sponsors. Without people like them and you, we would not be able to prepare for our next competitions and excide the limits and expectations of the competition. We hope to soon commence the testing and tuning portion of our schedule, and will be bringing impressive improvements to our already highly competitive vehicle. We have no doubt that we will be able to reach even greater heights in our next competitions.

Baja SAE is a collegiate level competition held by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). It has divisions throughout the world in the United States, India, Korea, China, Mexico, and South America. Without a doubt, the most competitive of all its division's are the USA competitions. Every year, 300+ teams gather from around the world to compete in three US events. Students are tasked with designing a single-seat, all-terrain vehicle capable as a prototype of an actual vehicle that could go into production. Each year, students must use engineering skills to design, manufacture, and compete with their vehicle. More about Baja SAEFor enquiries, contact us at: saebaja@unlv.edu
