About La Voz
La Voz is the Hispanic/ Latinx Law Student Association at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law. Our primary focus is to empower and promote the success of law students with backgrounds that are not traditionally represented in the legal profession. We are most known for the Huellas mentorship program. Huellas, “Footprints” in Spanish, is a nationally recognized and award-winning mentorship program that pairs high school students, undergraduate students, and law students with local attorneys from across different areas of practice. Huellas provides students with support and opportunities to learn about the legal profession. Through Huellas, La Voz works to increase diversity in the legal profession.
What Your Donation Will Fund
To continue the growth and success that students receive through their involvement in Huellas, we need your help. Your donations will give us the ability to provide Huellas participants with scholarships for the LSAT, textbooks for school, tuition, and bar exam preparation materials. This year the Huellas program has over 200 participants, the most participants since the inception of the program. Huellas participants range in age and educational background from freshmen in high school to third-year law students. Your generous donations will help these students continue their path to success in the legal field.
How Scholarships Will Be Awarded
In order to qualify for a scholarship, La Voz members and Huellas participants will have to submit an application. Applications will be reviewed and chosen by an independent committee of local attorneys. Scholarships will be awarded at the Huellas Closing Reception in April 2021.
**Contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law. All donors will receive a gift receipt from the UNLV Foundation.**
Your donation will help pay college application fees for our high school student participants.
Your donation can benefit an undergraduate Huellas member by giving him or her an opportunity to win a scholarship to take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and break the first barrier toward law school.
Your donation can go toward a textbook scholarship for a high school student who will be entering college and taking their first steps toward higher education and potentially the career of law.
Your donation can go toward a textbook scholarship for one semester of law school.
Your generous donation can be put toward a tuition scholarship awarded to a law student who is a member of La Voz or a participant of Huellas in order to help continue their studies.
Your generous donation can help shape the next generation of leaders.
