We are Students for the Exploration and Development of Space at UNLV:
We are a team of students who are passionate about promoting the education of space and empowering individuals to make an impact in the pursuit of space exploration. Our organization helps students develop technical as well as leadership skills through projects, competitions, and conferences. For further questions about who we are and what we do, please check out our website at sedsunlv.com or email us at email@example.com. Thank you for your support.

Level 1 Workshop Launch 2019
SEDS UNLV engages in year-round support for all new and returning members who wish to obtain amateur high-powered rocketry certifications. These certifications are based on standards recognized nationally by the Tripoli Rocketry Association Each level (1 to 3) corresponds with increasing launch height potential paired with higher system complexity. New members typically start with level 1 rocket builds, which present a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on with simple but potent hardware paired with a relatively low financial contribution. Members are welcome to continue into their level 2/3 certifications assisted by the wealth of past experience provided by other members and organization connections.
Our Mission, Spaceport America Cup:
Spaceport America Cup 2019 Team
As of the 2020-2021 academic year, the primary project that we will be focusing on is the 2021 Spaceport America Cup competition, which will enable us to have another competition opportunity as a team. Every year, the largest international collegiate rocketry competition, the Spaceport America Cup, which challenges students to design, build, and launch high-powered rockets, is hosted annually, with our next competition happening June 22-26, 2021 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico! We are looking to build our own competition rocket by incorporating a commercial off the shelf (COTS) student researched and developed (SRAD) solid rocket motor, where we will use to assist us in reaching our 30,000 ft. above ground level (AGL) goal, to the best accuracy level as possible.

We Need Your Help!
This upcoming year would be SEDS UNLV's second rocketry competition and we would like to show the world what UNLV students can offer the space industry, as well as fostering an increased student representative status on campus for the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering. Our team has been working very long hours over the course of the last several months in designing and building our rocket, even after the pandemic rendered on-campus resource utilization nearly impossible. Unfortunately, the Spaceport America Cup competition scheduled for 2020 was postponed for 2021, due to extenuating circumstances given the global COVID-19 pandemic. However, because of this, we have already established a concrete design plan for our competition rocket and would like to improve upon it by including additional components and hardware that could be used to increase the accuracy and completion of our goal on competition day. In order to accomplish our goal, we need additional funding to help us get there, and ultimately in a position where we can continue to foster education in engineering and space exploration while continuing to give students opportunities to participate in projects like these while developing their professional skillsets for future careers.
