Support the Student Nurses Association (SNA) at UNLV
Help Send UNLV Student Nurses to a National Convention!
WHO WE ARE
We are the UNLV Student Nurses Association (SNA), a student-run organization established in 1972 that aims to cultivate and empower future nurse leaders by providing leadership opportunities, broadening knowledge, advocating for and contributing to advances in nursing education, and exercising community involvement.
WHY WE ARE HERE
We are very active locally and within Nevada, but we have worked diligently to expand our organization's reach. We are thrilled to have recently obtained national constituency! We wish to establish a national presence with which to continue to advocate for advancements in health care and nursing education and promote community outreach projects.
WHAT WE NEED
We are requesting your support in sending 12 of our members to the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) Annual Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. We will represent UNLV student nurses on a national stage in advocating for issues that matter to us, something that has never been done in UNLV's history!
WHAT THE NATIONAL CONVENTION MEANS FOR US
Students gain so much from national convention attendance and are always eager to implement new skills and knowledge in our community! In addition to representing UNLV on a national stage, this experience allows student nurses to:
Meet influential and inspiring nurse leaders.
Network with peers across the nation who share similar goals in advocating for the future of nursing.
Officers and aspiring officers will attend courses geared toward their positions to learn how they can help our organization run more efficiently and reach more people.
Attend poster sessions to review relevant, current nursing research.
Obtain Red Cross Disaster Certification to better respond in the event of a disaster within the community.
Donate blood and learn more about hosting and promoting blood drives so patients can receive lifesaving blood transfusions.
Register with the Bone Marrow Donor Registry and learn more about the national Be the Match campaign, including national legislative action, clinical education for healthcare professionals, and global advocacy.
Utilize the Career Development Center to learn more about professional opportunities in nursing, RN internships and residencies, and advancing their nursing education.
Take NCLEX courses to practice important concepts in nursing and delivery of safe, competent nursing care.
