Help Send Boyd Law Students to the Trial Academy
What Your Donation will Fund
UNLV Law School would like to send current law students to Trial Academy, presented by the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada, at its annual meeting being held on July 12-14, 2018 in Chicago. Trial Academy will give students an opportunity to learn trial advocacy skills alongside licensed attorneys with instruction from prominent judges and trial attorneys. This fundraising drive will directly benefit students interested in attending Trial Academy. Your donation will be used to pay for students' travel costs, lodging, and registration fees which will include case books.
What is Trial Academy
The Trial Academy is a three-day program that will take place at the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, July 12-14, 2018. Over the course of the three-day program, participants receive group session instruction on themes and theories, voir dire, opening statements, direct and cross-examination, jury instructions and closing arguments. After each general instruction session, participants are divided into smaller break-out groups to present mock-voir dire, openings, witness examinations, and closing arguments. Throughout each mock presentation, instructors provide participants with individual mentoring and feedback. We alternate each year between a civil and criminal case from NITA, and this year’s case is civil.
