Description
When I interviewed for a position in UNLV's Special Collections & Archives, the practical experience I received through a paid professional internship made me a stand out candidate and set me on a path for success in Las Vegas
Now, in celebration of my 25th anniversary at UNLV, I want to pay it forward by launching a fund to create paid student internships in Special Collections & Archives.
During my 25 years at UNLV, I have been able to teach thousands of students, faculty, and community members about Las Vegas history and the importance of our unique resources in documenting that history. I also have been able to develop professionally through educational opportunities, and most importantly, I count many UNLV colleagues as mentors and lifelong friends. Without the experience afforded to me by my internship prior to my arrival at UNLV, I would never have had these opportunities.
I would love to enable future generations of students to have the same kind of positive professional opportunities that I have enjoyed. Not every student can afford to do an internship without pay, which is one reason why we are committed to providing paid professional learning opportunities.
By establishing a paid internship program in Special Collections & Archives, we will help these students gain practical experience as they prepare to enter the library or archives field.
Please consider making a gift to support the Su Kim Chung 25th Anniversary Special Collections Internship Campaign today.
With Gratitude,
Su Kim Chung
