Overview
Dear Ultrasound Community,
As graduates of the UNLV ultrasound program under the mentorship of Melinda Bechtel, we are inspired to take action as Melinda prepares for her well-deserved retirement. Her dedication helped to launch many of our successful careers, and now, we have an opportunity to honor her legacy in a meaningful way.
During our recent visit to the UNLV ultrasound lab, it became clear that many essential tools are outdated. With technology rapidly improving, a lot of the current supplies in this lab may now be considered obsolete, as they are several decades old. Since this lab serves as the primary teaching ground for most ultrasound graduates in Las Vegas, it is vital for students to train on equipment that is up to date. Subsequently, this benefits our entire medical community, because ultrasound technologists scan the entire human body and act as the doctor's eyes.
Join us!
We invite you to join us in establishing the Melinda Bechtel Fund for Ultrasound with a contribution of $100 or more. Your generosity will empower the new director, Kaycee Camacho, to purchase ultrasound machines, probes, educational phantoms, and other necessary materials. These donations will directly impact students' lives and help to bridge the gap created by lack of funding. Together, we can equip future generations of ultrasound students with the resources they need to excel and innovate.
Each person who donates at least $100 to this effort will have their names added to a plaque in the ultrasound lab, so that students can see the impact of your support.
Thank you for supporting our students and community!
With gratitude and optimism,
Candice Cole ('19) and Geselle Rufin ('17)
