About Gwen
Dr. Gwendoline N. Amsrala was a native Nevadan and recent MD graduate from the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. She was a first-generation student with an unwavering work ethic, passion for learning, and desire to care for the sickest patients in the hospital - qualities destined to have made her a wonderful critical care physician.
Gwen was an incredibly supportive friend and a dear colleague who passionately advocated for those around her. She was admired for her selflessness and love for her friends and family. When not at the hospital, she dedicated all of her energy to supporting and caring for her parents. Gwen was especially genuine and knew how to lighten heavy situations with her wonderful sense of humor. She often found joy by sharing a meal with friends and by spending quality time with her dog, Arya. She will always be remembered for her endearing wit, bright smile, infectious laughter, integrity in her work, and heartfelt empathy for her patients.
In honor of her memory, Gwen’s family and friends have established an endowed scholarship to carry on her legacy. The Dr. Gwendoline N. Amsrala Memorial Scholarship will benefit a student annually at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. The award will be given to a student whom Gwen would have been a natural mentor to and one who embodies the qualities that made Dr. Amsrala a phenomenal physician - a compassionate, first-generation student interested in pursuing a career in medicine with a fervor for advocacy.
